What’s made in Canada, perfect for hot summer days, full of deliciousness and kicks the crap out of any other smoothie? Booster Juice!
I’ll admit, Booster Juice is the brightest coloured store I ever go into, and it kind of makes me look over my shoulder to check for clowns. There’s no denying, though, that they have the best smoothies in town. And in Canada. And possibly in the whole wide world. I’ve tried Jugo Juice before, and Americans, I have to say, Booster Juice is so much better. Sorry.
Booster Juice began in Edmonton, and slowly worked it’s way across the nation. It now has over 40 locations within Canada, as well as several in the United States and Mexico. But we were addicted to it long before it got famous. We’re such hipsters, haha!
Our go-to is always the Funky Monkey. Because we like chocolate. Whaaaaaat!? I know, surprising, right? Really, though, while the Monkey isn’t their most healthy option, it’s so thick and creamy and delicious without being too sweet or fake tasting. I’m not normally a huge fan of milkshakes, they’re usually too watery or too weak, or sometimes just disgustingly sweet, but the Funky Monkey gets most of it’s sweetness from bananas. Okay, it does get some sweetness from the chocolate soy milk and some from the frozen yogurt, but it’s a gentle sort of sweetness, like first love.
On the rare days we don’t feel like something chocolatey, I highly recommend the Strawberry Sunshine and the Mango Hurricane. Both are nice and fruity and so refreshing, I love ‘em! Each booster juice comes with one free ‘booster’, which are basically just supplements that are good for you. I always get either the Warrior, or Energy, because that’s how I roll. Booster Juice also has even healthier options with veggies and wheatgrass, and I bought the best apple slicer ever from them. Kind of random, but I’m not complaining.
Do you have a favourite go-to smoothie, either bought or homemade?
